Editor’s note：Geotextiles is an important product category of technical textiles and plays an important role in civil engineering projects such as water conservation as well as highway,railway, seaport and building construction and its development relies largely on the guidance and promotion of government policies. Along with social development and increasing population, more and more industrial and infrastructure facilities will be under construction and reform, thus driving the sustainable development of geotextiles. At present, China’s geotextile industry has primarily taken shape but it hardly compares favorably with its counterparts in developed countries in Europe and America,and the technological level and construction of related standard system are still in the primary stage. This column tries to present the huge market potential of geotextiles, future prospects and foreign advanced experiences in application of new technologies and development of new products from market and technology points of view.
