Editor’s Note: Printing and dyeing sector is an important component of the textile industry and a key link in the textile chain that adds value to textile products. During the 10th “Five-year Plan” period (2001— 2005), especially since China joined the WTO, China’s printing and dyeing sector has obtained more opportunities and made remarkable progress in terms of scale, production, output value and sales revenue. However, the sector bears increasing burden of high energy consumption and pollution to the environment. Therefore, making effective use of resources and taking effective measures to environmental pollution control are prime task for the Chinese printing and dyeing sector.
