In recent years, the total import of high grade shuttle-less looms in China has declined year by year, particularly the rapier looms. This indicates that the amount of middle and high grades shuttle-less looms made in China is increasing steadily.Launched 20 years ago, the domestic middle and high grades rapier looms which are now in great demands have been almost self-sufficient. Based on analyzing the operation principle, the author stated some issues on the development of rapier technology, as well as the machines’ design and manufacturing at home and abroad. Furthermore, some views on how to select the right technology of rapier looms were also expressed.
