Abstract: This paper first reviewed traditional braiding technology, then illustrated the fundamental principle of hexagonal braiding. The construction of hexagonal braiding machine was detailedly presented from the achievement of the braiding movement and the control of braiding based on Labview. Finally, the application of hexagonal braiding machine was shown by some examples. It can be seen the novel hexagonal braiding machine will be of great benefits to new fields where precise fine micro-braids could be used.
