In recent half century, the competition between US and Japan in high-performance fiber was intense.This article illustrated the competition among several countries as well as different kinds of fiber in some important application fields, and focused on the technique research trend of Japan. Based on analysis, the author pointed out that the competition would force high-performance fiber enterprises to increase investment on research and development, so as to supply tailor-made products to customers.
