Abstract: An introduction of HSHMPE staple fiber is given in this paper including the production process, properties and applications. HSHMPE staple fiber is easy to produced without much strength loss and also has the same cut-resistance property with HSHMPE filament. It has a wide application, such as composite material, architecture reinforced material and nonwovens. But there are some restrictions when used in composite material due to its strong chemical inertness and the poor interfacial adhesion between fiber and resins. However, its performance has been improved with the development of surface modification technology.
