Abstract: The current situation of research on using additional carding device at the back plate of local-made carding machines is elaborated in this paper. Adding additional back stationary flats and web cleaner to existing carding machine can help improve the quality of both silver and the resulted yarn, while even better results can be achieved by incorporating both of them at the same time. The gauge of back stationary flats is generally correlated with the gauge between back plate and cylinder. On the A family home-made carding machines, the gauge of back stationary flats is 0.5-0.6 mm and usually 2-6 (often 3-4) back stationary flats are used.
