Knitted garments development is shifting to the higher end with multi-functions which pronounced the increasing importance for the R&D of functional knitted fabrics. The specific manufacturing process of functional warp-knitted and weft-knitted fabrics was introduced in this paper.

Development and the application of multi-functional knitted fabrics viz. quick-dry, antibacterial,thermo-keeping, body-shaping were investigated from different stages as in raw material, knitting and finishing. The marketplace situation of functional knitted fabrics was also studied concluding that knitted fabrics shall be diversified, functionally compounded and more fashionable.
