China’s Import and Export of Textiles and Garment in Post-WTO Entry Era: Characteristics & Outlook

On December 11, 2006, China will embrace the 5th anniversary of its WTO entry. Over the past five years, to honor its commitments to the WTO, China has opened wider its market to the outside world. Meanwhile, as member of the WTO, China has also obtained the advantages brought by the opening global market, which has offered wider market space for China’s exported commodities. The article sums up the characteristics of China’s textile import and export trade in the period after China joined the WTO and their impact on the textile industry and anticipates the future development of this trade.
