The economic operation of garment industry in Jan.-May is as follows:

Production

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to May, the garment production of enterprises above designated size in garment industry totaled 9.66 billion pieces, declining by 0.38% year-on-year.

Domestic sales

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to May, the total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to CNY 16.13 trillion, surged by 8.1% year-on-year. Thereinto, the retail sales of clothing, foot & head wear and knitted goods by major retailers above designated size was CNY 397.4 billion, edged up 2.3% year-on-year.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to May, China's online retail sales was CNY 3.04 trillion, growing by 21.7% year-on-year. In the online retail sales of physical commodities, wearing goods increased by 21.2% year-on-year.

Export

According to the Customs Newsletters, from January to May, China's garment and accessories exports totaled US$ 51.27 billion, down 5.5% year-on-year.

Investment

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to May, the actual investment of China's garment industry increased by 3.9% compared with the same period of 2018.

Benefit

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to May, the main business income of textile enterprises above designated size totaled about CNY 621.39 billion, with year-on-year growth of 2.49%; the total profit was CNY 30.78 billion, down by 1.30% year-on-year.
