China's Textile and Garment Exports up 1.65% in in May

According to China's General Administration of Customs, China's textile and garment exports totaled US$ 99.58 billion in January-May, down 2.88% over the same period last year. Among them, the exports of yarns, fabric and related products reached US$ 48.31 billion, seeing a year-on-year growth of 1.41%; and the exports of garment and accessories was US$ 51.27 billion, down 5.5% year-on-year.


Based on the monthly export data, China's textile and garment exports reached US$ 23.83 billion, up 1.65% over the same period last year. Thereinto, the exports of yarns, fabric and related products reached US$ 11.64 billion, increased by 3.55% compared with the same period of 2018. And the exports of garment and accessories was US$ 12.18 billion, down 0.11% year-on-year.

Compared with the sharp growth and apparent slowdown in textile and apparel exports in March and April, China's textile and garment exports stabilized in May, and the export performance was better than expected. Even in the face of the uncertainty brought about by the Sino-US trade war, the Chinese textile industry still reflects strong resilience and international competitiveness.
