China’s Textile and Garment Exports Down 3.69% in January-April

According to China’s General Administration of Customs, China’s textile and garment exports totaled US$ 75.76 billion in January-April, 2019, down 3.69% over the same period last year. Thereinto, textile exports reached US$ 36.67 billion, seeing year-on-year rises of 0.81%. While garment and accessories exports were US$ 39.09 billion, with year-on-year decline of 7.56%. In CNY-denominated terms, China’s textile and garment exports totaled CNY 515.82 billion in the first four months of 2019, up 1.56% year-on-year.


Based on the monthly export data, China’s textile and garment exports reached near US$ 19.46 billion in April, down 9.43% year-on-year, reaching the lowest level since April, 2012 for monthly export. Among them, textiles exports were US$ 9.78 billion, decreased by 6.90% year-on-year; while garment exports reached US$ 9.67 billion, down 11.85% year-on-year. It is worth noting that for the second consecutive month, the exports of garment have been lower than the textile exports.


China’s exports of footwear products totaled US$ 13.89 billion in first four months of 2019, declined by 1.6% year-on-year, and increased by 2.0% year-on-year in quantity term.
