Shandong Textile and Garment Industry Focuses on High-quality Development

Recently, the working conference of high-quality development of textile industry cluster in Shandong province held in Binzhou. This symposium aims to accelerate the high-quality development of the textile industry clusters in Shandong Province and strive to cultivate and build world-class advanced industrial clusters.


Xia Lingmin, vice president of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, said that in 2018, China's textile industry showed a slowdown trend, however, the economic indicators such as revenue, profit and exports of enterprises above designated size have increased. This trend is expected to continue in 2019. It is hoped that all industrial clusters should increase their innovation efforts in accordance with the requirements of high-level scientific and technological application, high-level brand development, high capacity for sustainable development, and high-quality talented personnel, so as to strive to propel the work of industrial clusters to a new level.


Cao Yubin, deputy mayor of Binzhou Municipal People's Government, said that Binzhou has a long history of cotton planting and development of the textile industry. The textile industry is a traditional competitive industry and an important livelihood industry in Binzhou. After decades of development, a complete industrial chain includes weaving, printing and dyeing, garment, home textiles, has been formed, which increased its competitiveness and influence in the world. For the next step, Binzhou will strive to build a world-class home textiles industry cluster.


Sun Jingjun, director of the Science and Technology Department of the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, said that as a "trillion-level" industry in Shandong province, textile and garment industry is not only the pillar of the province's industrial economy, but also a typical representative of the innovation and development of Shandong's manufacturing industry. In particular, the textile and garment industry clusters characterized by large-scale and intensive development play a very important role in driving local economic development, promoting employment, and building regional brands. In the future development, Shandong province will constantly promote the transformation and upgrading of industrial clusters base on their advantages; seize the opportunity of signing a world-level industrial cluster co-construction agreement with China National Textile and Apparel Council, to strengthen the flagship enterprises, extend industrial chain, and strive to build a world-class textile and garment industry cluster as soon as possible.


Liu Jianguo, president of the Shandong Textile and Apparel Association, introduced that by the end of 2018, Shandong province had a total of 26 textile and garment industry clusters, ranking fourth in China. According to incomplete statistics, the main business income of these 26 textile and garment industry clusters totaled CNY 550 billion in 2018, accounting for 46% of Shandong province, and 18.4% of China.


In recent years, Shandong province has continuously promoted the "Internet Plus" strategy, explored new development models of innovative industrial clusters, actively built regional brand influence, planned to promote the transformation and upgrading, and carried out a series of measures such as the construction of service platforms. Thus, Shandong province's textile and garment industry cluster have made considerable progress.


He also said that in the next step, Shandong province will guide and promote core product development and process upgrading, strengthen innovation investment and talents development, implement regional brand strategy and standard construction projects, strengthen public service platform construction, and adhere to sustainable development through scientific planning, so as to promote the high-quality development of Shandong province's textile and garment industry.
