Xinjiang Textile and Garment Industry Adds 415,000 New Jobs in Three Years

It is learned from the Leading Group Office for Developing Textile and Garment Industry to Boost Employment of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region that as of Jun. 2017, the supply chain of Xinjiang textile and garment industry has added 415,000 new jobs. There are 2,525 textile and garment enterprises in Xinjiang, an increase of 1,965 enterprises compared with three years ago, of which, the number of enterprises set up by inland investors has increased from dozens three years ago to the present 682.


Liang Yong, deputy secretary general of the People's Government of the Autonomous Region and head of the Leading Group Office, said that Xinjiang has become an area with the hottest investment, the lowest cost and the fastest development for China's textile and garment industry. Meanwhile, under the "Belt and Road" Initiative, Xinjiang is also the most dominant region for enterprises to implement the "go global" strategy.


In Jul. 2014, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region released the development plan of Xinjiang textile and garment industry: by 2023, Xinjiang textile and garment supply chain will ultimately create one million jobs.


Data show that from Jan. 2014 to Jul. 2017, the fixed-asset investment of Xinjiang textile and garment industry amounted to CNY 120.73 billion. Thereinto, in January - July of this year, the fixed-asset investment reached CNY 31.35 billion, seeing an increase of 38.8% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the textile and industry created 283,800 new jobs.
