Thousand Garment Companies Will Move from Beijing to Cangzhou

Updated: 3/13/2017 2:47:44 PM

The Beijing-based Founsee Group and Dongsu Group based in Cangzhou, Hebei Province recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will jointly build Cangzhou Mingzhu Clothing Culture Industrial Park.

The first-phase of the project will cover a land area of 20,000 mu (about 1,334 hectares). It is scheduled to break ground in the first half of 2017 with a total investment budget of CNY 25 billion. In the early stage, Founsee Group will lead about 1,000 garment traders to build a garment-featured town on a land of 5,000 mu (about 333.5 hectares), hoping to find a way out for 15,000 garment processing companies in Beijing to cope with the functional dispersal of Beijing.

Beginning from 2015, Beijing has been shifting non-capital functions to neighboring Tianjin and Hebei. The so-called "non-capital" functions usually include relatively low end economic sectors and public sectors that are not market-driven. With this shifting, Beijing will cut 300,000 jobs in the garment and related sectors.
