Following on from our seasonal trends for the coming SS 2018 season, we will be presenting some of the latest items that are Environmentally and Sustainably produced. SPINEXPOTM will showcase new research and development techniques applied specifically to the Cotton and Paper spinners.
For many years now, many of the SPINEXPO exhibitors have been heavily involved in creating sustainable production facilities. With the ever-increasing need to commit, continuously improve and produce products in accordance with sustainable practices and social responsibility, we are seeing exciting new blends and techniques enter the market.
In order to showcase products in this arena, SPINEXPOTM is integrating these products into two of our main display areas. Our first area where sustainable products will be presented is within the central section of our SS 2018 colour presentation “Harvest Golds”. This central presentation will include eco, sustainable and recycled products in addition to new eco-dye techniques and natural dyes alongside other key items. The second area where we will present further products will be within our SPINEXPLORE trend presentation.
SHILEAD: An innovative spinning company that integrates the belief in the future of textiles and smart technology. They are certified by Oeko-Tex Standard 100, OCS, GOTS, GRS. Shilead focuses on sustainable development and in particular on dyeing and spinning techniques:
-Ecology materials = Recycle/BCI/Organic Cotton, Recycle Polyester, Recycle viscose
-Special colourfibre: multi-colour polyester/nylon that can make colourful blurry effects (top dyedeffects by yarn dyed techniques)
-Dying technique: painting effected spray dyed/special space dyed along blurry effects
-Functional yarns: Coolmax, anti-bacterial, S.cafe, UV protection, reflective yarns, sporty yarns, nylon, polyester.
Equipped with an independent ODM development team, SHILEAD always follows international trend direction and develops innovative new products, presenting over 300 new items every season.
BROS: Their Eco Fresh line of yarns simplifies the dyeing process, hugely reduces the consumption of water and electricity, as well as the amount of dye product needed. With a garment being knitted first, then piece-dyed, the overall processing time is reduced from 60 to 25 days, allowing their customers to make last minute colour decisions to keep their product on trend.
Bros has a long-term commitment to creating a cleaner and better environment. Their sustainability lines include cotton, rayon (Modal and Tencel), Linen, Cotton/Polyester blends, Cotton/Rayon blends, silk and wool blends. Yarns can be used for circular knits, flat bed knits, woven (shirting and home products).
XUFENG is a functional fibre spinner that actively expands new research and development with green environmental protection in mind. They blend many fibres, Cupro, Bamboo, Cool Max, Ramie, Linen, and Cotton.
Cupro is made from pure natural plant fibre, naturally degradable, with no environmental pollution. Its static function allows good breathability, readily absorbs moisture, bringing antistatic properties, keeping warm in winter and cool in summer.
LIGHTMAXTM is a natural linen fibre with good moisture absorption, permeability, antibacterial properties and degrades completely with no adverse affect to the environment; blended with BCI cotton, it offers smooth hand feel and is a warrant to green health.
HUAFU mélange yarns save more than 60% of water consumption when dyed compared with traditional techniques to meet the requirements of low carbon and eco- friendly standards. Huafu took the lead to promote environmental protection in the melange yarn industry by continuously developing eco-friendly cotton, polyester/cotton and natural fibre cellulous products. It obtained ISO14001, OekoTex Step, and was invited to become the first batch of pilot enterprises to participate into the ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) projects under the guidance of China Textile Industry Association. This step enables Huafu to better provide customers with safe, healthy and eco-friendly textile products.
ESQUELstrives to be a “Green” player by taking innovative initiatives to decrease the carbon footprint, reduce waste, energy and usage of water, while at the same time im proving efficiency. Esquel’s specialty spinning devotes itself to the development and production of a series of eco-friendly products under the mission of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”. ESQUEL has been engaging in organic cotton farming for over 15 years, producing pure and organic cotton that is softer to the skin and environmentally friendly to the ecosystem.
Reusing the leftover fibre from the spinning process plus polyester from recycling plastic bottles produces ESQUEL’s Low carbon Polyester yarn. Apart from the recycled polyester processing, there is no extra washing for the yarn to achieve the garment washed, vintage effect.
GEETANJALI – offer open-end Cotton and Wool products that are created using recycled post consumer textile waste. They have their own recycling division where they collect textile materials from all over the world and sort, grade and recycle at their own plant. They believe in the benefits of Recycling for ecology, hence why they make all their yarns with a recycled fibre content
UPW offer BCI cotton yarns within their range. The BCI Better Cotton Initiative is a socially responsible programme, which stewards global standards to transform cotton production and make it better for the people who produce it and better for the environment. UPW also carries ECOCERT that certifies textiles produced using organically grown materials according to the Organic content standard to guarantee the traceability and integrity of the raw materials during all stages of manufacture. This is key in today’s society with more consumers pushing to understand how and where their garments have been created. ECOCERT aims to build environmental and sustainable development policies and to educate and innovate in practices leading to more sustainable eco system management for the future.
SHINNAIGAI TEXTILE is also a Japanese company with a line of products known as “Color Ball”. Their aim is to promote fashion by utilizing creative, innovative, flexible manufacturing technology and know-how taking into consideration health and environment.
The Company abandoned mass production to support a variety of yarns available in small quantities with quick delivery. This technique enables Shinnaigai to offer many fibre combinations and have irregular mixed thickness, slubs and neps.
Using plants and flowers as the basis of their dyeing process, they work on the PH balance of natural dye and its interaction with metal and temperature, grinding and water extraction to achieve the best colour effects.
TAKIZEN have a range of eco & sustainable paper yarns made from Abacá (Manila Hemp/Musa Texillis). Manila hemp is a species of Banana native to the Philippines. It is an incredibly strong fibre that was originally used for making twines and ropes before synthetic textiles came into use. Manila hemp is a major source of high quality fiber: soft, silky and fine, it is used as an alternative to cellulose pulp. Abaca grows much faster than normal hemp and can be harvested twice a year and once planted it has continuous growth for around 50 years, a beautiful and sustainable product.
