The latest data of Urumqi Customs show that the exports of textiles and garment from Xinjiang Port has taken a turn from the declining trend over the past three months and began to pick up in January. The exports amounted to CNY 3.64 billion in January, edged up 14.2% month-on-month and up dramatically by 76.3% year-on-year. The exports to Kyrgyzstan grow at the fastest rate thanks to the better economic situation of Kyrgyzstan than other countries in central Asia.
According to the statistics, the export of textile yarn, fabric and made-up goods amounted to CNY 800 million, up 36.2% year-on-year, accounting for 22.0% of the total export value; the export of garment and accessories amounted to CNY 2.84 billion, up 92.2% year-on-year, making up 78.0% of the total.
Kyrgyzstan is the number one export market for Xinjiang textile and garment industry and it is followed by Russia. In January, the exports to Kyrgyzstan from Xinjiang amounted to CNY 1.56 billion, up 59.3% year-on-year.
