Recently, an appraisal meeting was held in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, for the project named “Key Technologies and Industrialization of 1,000-t/a Dry-jet-wet-spinning Line for High-tenacity, High-tenacity-medium-modulus Carbon Fiber".

Over the past few years, China has realized industrial production of general-purpose carbon fiber and basically satisfied certain part of demand on domestic market. However, with the rapid development of composite material market, general-purpose carbon fiber can no longer meet the needs of aviation and emerging industries for high-performance carbon fibers. For a long period of time, the industrial production of high-performance fibers such as T700 and T800 has been confined by process and technology. Currently, 85% of the high-performance carbon fibers are imported from abroad.

The above-mentioned project is jointly undertaken by Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd., Donghua University and Jiangsu Yingyou Textile Machinery Co., Ltd. With over two years' efforts, they have developed the reactor of 60 cubic meters with high heat-exchanging efficiency, which is used for preparing highly-uniform and draftable polymer solution as well as the multi-position, consistent and high-speed dry-jet and wet-spinning process and key equipment with spinning speed up to 300 m/min, and they have also made breakthrough in developing fine-denier fibril technology and high-orientation technology. The fibril rapid pre-oxidation technology has effectively shortened the pre-oxidation time.

The project has set up the first carbon fiber production line based on dry-jet and wet-spinning process in China, in which, the SYT49 line has a designed capacity of 1,000 tons/year and the SYT55 line 100 tons/year, both are operating smoothly. The resulted products have been successfully used in cable core, c/c thermal-field materials, pressure bottle and building sector.

The SYT49/SYT 55 production lines of Zhongfu Shengying ran into operation in October of 2013. By the end of May in 2015, the company has produced 1,720 tons of SYT49 high-performance carbon fiber, with 1,640 tons has been sold; and 36 tons of SYT55 carbon fiber, with 25 tons sold.
