Some industries that are not compatible with the functions of capital will move out of Beijing, said Zhang Boxu, director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Economics and Information Technology during a dialogue with citizens.
Building materials, chemical, textile, printing & dyeing and iron & steel processing enterprises are in the list of moving out of Beijing.
Zhang revealed that the municipal government will support the moving-out of these enterprises and give compensation to their employees.
Since Beijing launched the “Clear Air Action Plan" in 2013, 680 enterprises had moved out of Beijing by the end of last year. In the first half of this year, another 185 enterprises moved out of Beijing and the total number is expected to reach 1,000 at the end of this year and 1,200 at the end of 2016, one year earlier in accomplishing the target.
In order to improve the environment, Beijing is now seeking an economic, environmental-friendly and recyclable path for development.
As Beijing's role becomes more and more clear as China's center for politics, culture, scientific innovation and international exchange, the city now has new approaches in solving the problems in its development.
Zhang Boxu said:" We must transform our development model and embark on a sustainable path. In 2014 Beijing arranged a CNY 195 million budget to support the relocating of the polluting enterprises.
