Corps' Textile Business: Sales/Output Ratio Up to 92.6% in Q1

In the first quarter of this year, the textile industry of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (hereinafter referred to as Corps) maintained the recovery trend. It produced 44,100 tons of cotton yarn and 8.67 million meters of cotton fabric, up 5.2% and 11.6% year-on-year respectively, with the sales/output ratio up to 92.6%, up 1.3% year-on-year.


In 2015, the textile industry is still facing many challenges, such as the new Environment Protection Law, new regulations on land use, termination of EU's Most-favored-nation Duty Rates treatment to China and increasing labor cost. Nevertheless, along with the implementation of the policies of central and local governments on increasing employment by developing textile and apparel industry, the textile industry of the Corps will meet new opportunities and enter into a new fast-growing period.


In 2015, the textile industry of the Corps will invest CNY 4.6 billion in fixed assets (including investment in infrastructure of industrial parks); increase more than 500,000 spindles of cotton spinning capacity and 500 looms; promote the reorganization and recovery production of Tiansheng Industrial Company and resume its production up to 500,000 spindles, so as to increase the equipment operation rate of local textile industry up to more than 75%; increase 4,500 job opportunities and provide training courses to 6,000 persons.


By the end of 2014, the Corps had 76 enterprises involving in textile and apparel businesses (including some embroidery cooperatives), who have 10,000 ring spindles, 47,000 rotors, 2,388 looms, an annual apparel processing capacity of 9 million pieces (sets), a textile-purpose pulp production capacity of 230,000 tons and a viscose fiber production capacity of 10,000 tons.
