It’s all happening at SPINEXPOTM Shanghai September 2-4, 2014

Updated: 8/6/2014 2:10:32 PM

Fibre manufacturers and promoters are getting closer to nature and offer their expertise to the industry...

The Woolmark Company presents its latest Washable Wool campaign and will showcase a selection of Merino wool trends, industry services and innovations at SPINEXPOTM Shanghai.

This session also marks the 50th anniversary of the Woolmark brand and its iconic logo, with the global authority on wool continuing to nurture and develop close relationships within the wool industry.

The new campaign has the tagline “Tested by Nature, Tested by Us”, which makes reference to the fact that wool on the sheep’s back is resilient enough to withstand all the elements that nature can throw at it, so a washing machine is not a challenge.

The Woolmark Company’s stand will display the latest edition of The Wool Lab, created to inspire and inform fashion and textile professionals on the infinite potential of Merino Wool.

Some of the latest innovations in Merino wool knitwear will also be showcased, including Merino Air, Sculptured Merino, Vintage Merino Knits and Merino Vintage Yarns.

In addition to this sourcing tool, the “Looking For Wool Sourcing Guide” will be presented, an online directory for sourcing wool and wool-rich containing products (part made and fully finished) both for apparel and interior textiles, and connects suppliers with manufacturers.

Woolmark will host an Opening Press Conference to start “Woolmark Day”, 3rd September 2014 at 10. a.m. followed by  a series of workshops held by AWI and its key partners, Xinao, Suedwolle, Consinee from 1.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Cashmere Quality is at a dangerous low point.

The quality of cashmere is classified by its length and fineness, but since 1981, with the vacancy of a price-establishing system-pricing by quality–no matter how fine the goods are- the price will remain the same.  This resulted in crossbreeding with high-yield-low-quality goat studs in 1999, for the purpose of increasing income by the increment of the cashmere yields.

Since 2000, Liaoning high-yield goats were used and crossbred with local goats all over China, causing all Chinese cashmere to become coarser and resulting in the downgrade of cashmere garments as well as the entire cashmere industry.

The purpose of this seminar is to make insiders pay attention to the quality of cashmere and to discuss the healthy and sustainable development of the cashmere industry through a comprehensive analysis of the current status of cashmere industry, an in-depth analysis of the Chinese cashmere products market, and building of the cashmere brand.

Xuerun is organising this seminar with a number of speakers from the China Textile Industry September 2nd, from 14:00 p.m. to 16.40 p.m.

Diamond Fibre: Launching International Mohair Mark

South Africa is driving global mohair production to new heights. South Africa is home to the largest mohair handling and marketing facility in the world with over fifty percent of all mohair produced originating from the angora goat farms on the beautiful planes of the Karoo in South Africa.

Mohair South Africa, a non-profit organisation based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa was established primarily to perform the functions aimed at the advancement of the entire mohair industry.

The main focus of Mohair SA is to endeavour to uphold the reputation of the superior quality raw material provided for local and export use. South Africa is home to two premium speciality mills. Based in the Eastern Cape, these mills process a total of close to eighty five percent of the world’s primary produced mohair.

In order to uphold the high standard of primary produced mohair, Mohair SA facilitates specialised training, in-depth research and marketing. Exceptionally high emphasis is placed on the adherence of quality standards.

As part of the marketing drive to increase the awareness of the fibre and the usage of mohair in manufacturing globally, Mohair SA’s strategy is to introduce and educate at educational institutions inspiring young designers and future manufacturers to incorporate mohair into their designs.

When blended with other luxury fibres, mohair is valued for certain unique characteristics: it is warmer than other fibres, even when used to make a light-weight garment, and is often blended with wool for this reason. Mohair fibres have a distinctive lustre created by the way they reflect light. Combined with mohair"s ability to absorb dyes exceptionally well, pure mohair yarns are usually recognizable for their vivid saturated colours. Mohair blends beautifully with other natural fibres and is produced ethically and sustainably, unlike their synthetic counterparts.

2014/15 sees the launch of the international Mohair Mark, as consumers need to be made aware of the presence of the fibre in articles and the unique properties mohair will add to the final product.  International brands, both in fashion and interior design have been strategic partners of Mohair SA for many years, especially those brands with their own Research and Development capabilities.

Mohair SA will introduce their new trends and developments at the Seminar Area 2nd September 2014 at 11.00 a.m.
