SPINEXPOTM New York Preview (Ⅴ)

Updated: 7/4/2014 4:58:47 PM

The 6th session SPINEXPOTM New York will open soon at The Metropolitan Pavilion on July 15th–17th, 2014. The upcoming event will bring to New York a new generation of textile suppliers combining a strong supply chain, international design studios and innovative yarn R&D teams accompanied by consolidated manufacturing and established access to raw materials.

A number of spinners participating in the show prefer to meet their clients directly and develop personal relationships with retailers and manufacturers.

Novetex Textiles feels no company is too small to build a new business with and targets brands and companies receptive to better, luxury-end natural fibres who understand the importance of ethical and quality focus to improve environmental respect.

Established in 1976 with more than 1000 employees, Novetex Textiles has developed into one of the world’s largest single site yarn spinners. As part of the Novel Group, their headquarters are located in Hong Kong and the factory in Zhuhai, Southern China.  The factory hosts 4 spinning mills, a dyeing mill and 50 production lines with an annual capacity of 9 million kgs of high quality yarns. Novetex Textiles carries a large stock service of colours in a diverse range of yarn blends and counts all crafted from the world’s finest fibres.  They also offer a customised service for customers to use their facilities to create their own unique yarns and colours.

The Export Department starts the season with an early trip to Europe in June; SPINEXPO New York in July follows. Even though the exhibition is still early for some of the US customers, this is always a successful 3 day event that also allows the company to tailor-make new qualities according to the updated trends of the brand designers.

Novetex Textiles specialises in woollen and semi-worsted yarns focusing on luxury animal fibres from merino and cashmere as well as alpaca, camel and yak. The company shows their expertise by blending these fibres with other fibres to achieve a softer handle, better price points or different effects.

Novetex is also a leader in the organic and ethical certifications for animal and vegetal based fibres, and the first to be certified in Asia as producers of organic wool.

Novetex Textiles continually looks at new ways to freshen their collection, but this year will prove to be a very challenging one as the current situation with the treatment and animal husbandry of farming angora –which has been in the press lately due to PETA – has led to all European retailers and many US retailers withdrawing from angora consumption altogether and looking for alternatives.  Alternatives in mohair and alpaca are driving up the prices to the point that the market cannot be competitive in these fibres either, which will be the ultimate challenge as to how to serve customers with alternative blends.

Novetex Textiles has been working hard to engineer new blends by adjusting their spinning methods to create softer hand feels without the need for softer animal fibres.  As market leaders in merino woollen spun lambswool (168 colours stock supported) and a wide range of fine merino in semi-worsted and in pure cashmere, 25% of new seasonal colours are constantly added.

Novetex felt that the coming season was the right time to really look beneath the surface of their yarns and create new effects through new twisting and combining of different yarns. They bring to the exhibition a very exciting range of marls, slubs, twists and tweeds for a very textural look to yarns.  Novetex also looked at the denim trend and vintage look and is launching a new range of denim effect yarns with a washed down and vintage appearance.

Novetex offers very friendly minimum quantities to buyers: for stock colours, 1 kg/colour; for non-stock colours, 20 kgs per colour.  Bulk minimum quantity for non-stock colours is 220 kgs per colour.

Novetex has strong links with garment manufacturing and can offer a full vertical service if required. The company also has another brand specialising in circular knitting for merino called Noveland, which is currently targeting accessories and toy markets, along with pet apparel.
