China"s retail sales of consumer goods grew 11.9% year-on-year to CNY 1.97 trillion (adjusted for inflation) in April, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said. In the first four months, China"s retail sales grew 12% year-on-year to CNY 8.18 trillion. The growth rate was the same as that in the first quarter. In April, the income of catering industry surged 10.7% year-on-year to CNY 201.7 billion; retail sales of commodities grew 12.1% to about CNY 1.77 trillion, and retail sales of clothing, shoes & hats and knitted goods grew 11.2% to CNY 89.4 billion.

In January-April, the income of catering industry surged 10.0% year-on-year to CNY 848.2 billion; retail sales of commodities grew 12.2% to CNY 7.33 trillion, and retail sales of clothing, shoes & hats and knitted goods grew 9.3% to CNY 394.5 billion.
