The Chinese textile industry will continue to face a complicate environment for its development in 2014, various unfavorable factors will remain effective despite the better turn of market at home and abroad, China National Textile and Apparel Council said. In 2013, the Chinese textile industry maintained steady growth with production of main products registered moderate growth. At the same time, the Chinese economy took a turn for better while maintaining stability and economic target set for 2014 is similar to that for 2013. So the Chinese textile industry is also expected to maintain steady growth in 2014.
Domestically, the progress in urbanization and steady income growth of both urban and rural residences will offer important support to the expansion of domestic demand for textiles and garment. The textile and apparel industry will benefit from various regulations and control policies that target to stabilize growth and restructuring as well as steady economic growth and increasing domestic consumption. However, some long-standing problems still exist, such as increasing pressure on environment protection, energy-saving and discharge reduction as well as increasing costs and survival hardness of small- and medium-sized enterprises.
Additionally, the Chinese textile and apparel industry needs to improve its innovation ability and pay attentions of weak demand on the world market and stronger market competition.
