Although the textile industry confronted with many difficulties, the textile industry in Jiangsu Province maintained steady growth. In January-October, the prime business revenue of the textile industry reached CNY 1.08 trillion, up 9.60% year-on-year and the total profit amounted to CNY 48.16 billion, up 16.24%. Meanwhile, CNY 163.36 billion worth of textile products were delivered for export, up 9.18%.
By coping with the changing development environment, the local textile industry positively adjusts it structure and its development presents the typical feature of "cross the (Yangtze) river" and "cross the border (going abroad)".
The inauguration of China (Shanghai) Free Trade Pilot Zone has offered more opportunities to Jiangsu textile enterprises. Some of them have set up international trading company in the zone.
In 2013, the textile industry accelerated its step of moving to the northern shore of the Yangtze River. As a result, a number of industrial parks have been set up one after another to take over the production capacity transferred from the south. For example, Shuyang County has become the largest covered yarn production base in China and even in the world. Now there are 13 covered yarn producers with 3,460 sets of covering machines and a total production of 80,000 tons. There are also 36 associated enterprises.
At the same time, the local textile industry is also quickening up the step of global allocation of resources and transferring the industry to Vietnam, Cambodia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc. in a quicker pace. For example, Hongdou Group has set up an economic park in Cambodia which covers a land area of 11.13 kilometers. Up to now, 32 enterprises including 7 textile and garment enterprises have entered into the park, offering more than 800 job opportunities to local people.
On October 8, China Sutex Textile Machinery Alliance (SITEX) was inaugurated in Nanjing. This is the first organization in China that is dedicated to providing textile machinery export-related services. Its mission is to organize local textile machinery manufacturers to go abroad together and increase export. The main measure is to set up offices in common export markets to keep good contact with local customers, feedback information and provide after-sale service.
In the new era, the textile industry in Jiangsu Province will continue to readjust its structure, speed up transformation and upgrading, accelerate the industrialization of new research achievements and carry out brand strategy, so as to further strengthen the competitive advantages of the textile industry, said Xie Ming, chairman of Jiangsu Textile and Apparel Council.
