China Imported 430,000 Tons of Cotton in April

In April 2013, China's cotton import dropped moderately in quantity term from the previous month, but the average import price surged.


According to Customs statistics, China imported 430,900 tons of cotton in April, a decrease of 97,900 tons and down 18.5% from March, and down 15.5% year-on-year. The average import price stood at US$ 1942/ton, registered an increase of US$ 60 by 18.4% from March.


In the first eight months of 2012, cotton import totaled 3.16 million tons, down 15.6% year-on-year; and in the first four months of this year, the cotton import totaled 1.79 million tons, down 13.5%.
