It is learned from the General Administration of Customs that China imported 377.6 ten thousand tons of PTA worthy of 3.7 billion US dollars in the first three quarters of 2008, respectively down 20 percent and 12.1 percent in quantity term and value term compared with the same period of 2007, while the average import price stood at US$ 980.2 per ton, up 9.9 percent year-on-year. South Korea, Taiwan and ASEAN were major suppliers of PTA to China as they taken together accounted for 95.4 percent of China´s total PTA import volume in Jan.- Sep., in which, 185.5 ten thousand tons of PTA were imported from South Korea, up 15.4 percent year-on-year; 132.8 ten thousand tons from Taiwan, down 0.5 percent; 41.8 ten thousand tons from ASEAN, down 65.9% over the year-ago level.
