Updated: 2/4/2009 9:50:00 AM

China´s economic growth is likely to accelerate at mid-year of 2009 for a full-year figure of more than 8 percent though the ongoing financial crisis would pose further challenges for China this year, according to economists with the National Development and Reform Commission. They also said that expanding domestic demand in the second half would cushion the impact of plunging exports as macroeconomic measures and stimulus packages would have a further effect. The country would increase investment this year in agriculture and rural development, energy conservation and pollution control, social welfare, environmental protection, major infrastructure projects and raising living standards.
