Textiles & garments export in Liaoning province for year 2008 (02/18/2009)

According to Liaoning Customs, total export of textiles, garments and yarns in Liaoning province for year 2008 stood at 3.83 billion US dollars, up 8.6% year-on-year, but the growth rate was 6 percentage points lower than that of 2007. By ownership of enterprises, export from private firms in the province increased rapidly to 1.22 billion US dollars, up 20.2% and covering 32.1% of the total. Besides, solely foreign-funded enterprises sold abroad 2.01 billion US dollars worth of products last year, up 8.2%,taking up for 52.9%; state-owned enterprises realized 442 million US dollars of export value, down 15.1% year-on-year and accounting for 11.6% of the total. Japan, the European Union, S. Korea and the US were the main importers, together accounting for 85.6% of total export value of Liaoning province. Of which, textile products imported by Japan amounted to 1.3 billion US dollars, up 7.1%; imported by the European Union, S. Korea and the US were $803 million, $731 million and $421 million, up 19.6%,2.7% and 6.1% respectively.
