Nantong´s Import of Chemical Filament in 2008 Reached 4641.36 Tons (03/10/2009)

Updated: 3/10/2009 10:13:00 AM

According to Jiangsu Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Nantong’s import of chemical filament in 2008 reached 4641.36 tons valued at 16.33 million US dollars, a respective decrease of 22.77 and 16.26 percent over the year-ago level. The insiders ascribed the import decline largely to lower demand for auto interior materials affected by the automotive industry crisis, and fewer orders caused by RMB appreciation and mounting production costs around China. Besides, the country’s export of textiles and garments went down as domestic exporters were faced with more risks and uncertainties in foreign exchange collection, which was also one main reason for the fall of chemical filament imports.
