Data from Zhejiang Dyestuff Industry Association showed that various economic indicators of the dyeing sector in Zhejiang declined by different degrees in 2008, largely due to the ongoing global financial crisis.
By the end of 2008, the sector’s gross value of industrial output was kept at the same level as 2007,totaling RMB 17.7 billion yuan (2.59 billion US dollars); the sales revenue amounted to 17.2 billion yuan, with a year-on-year decrease of 3 percent; the profit reached 1.1 billion yuan , down 14%; goods delivered for export gained 4.1 billion yuan, up 9 percent year-on-year.
During the same period, Zhejiang province yielded 440 thousand tons of various dyes, down 9 percent compared with 2007. It sold 430 thousand tons of dyes, down 10 percent, in which, 18 percent, say 75 thousand tons were sold abroad, down 20 percent; sales/output ratio reached 97%.
The output of dye intermediate fell by 2 percent to 56 thousand tons in 2008; totally 55 thousand tons were sold, down 4 percent; the export amounted to 2577 tons with a year-on-year decrease of 13 percent, covering 5 percent of the total sale volume; sales/output ratio was 97%.
Zhejiang also produced auxiliaries 118 thousand tons, up 14 percent year-on-year; all products were sold with sales/output ratio reaching 100%.
Pigment output amounted to 23753 tons by the end of 2008, growing 7 percent year-on-year; 24761 tons were sold, up 12 percent; the export increased by 6 percent to 12904 tons; sales/output ratio was 105%.
