PLATFORM FOR INNOVATION AND COMMUNICATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL TEXTILE AND MAN-MADE FIBERS INDUSTRY.
The 45th DORNBIRN MAN-MADE FIBERS CONGRESS (DORNBIRN MFC) meets all expectations as the leading European/American event in the field of man-made fibers. Held under the auspices of CIRFS, the European umbrella association of man-made fiber producers, and AFMA, the American Fiber Manufacturers Association, it will host at Dornbirn, from 20 – 22 September 2006, more than 700 participants from more than 30 countries. Located in a European region with traditionally strong links with textiles, Dornbirn will for three days be the textile centre of the world. More than 80 highly qualified speakers from industry and research institutes will make presentations on findings and innovations from the world of man-made fibers and fiber processing in three halls of the modern Congress Centre.
Spectacular opening session with highly interesting plenary lectures
On the opening day plenary lectures by representatives of the EU Commission and EURATEX will deal with the European Technology Platform for Textiles and Clothing. This is to demonstrate the importance of innovative strategies and support for research and development. AFMA will present an overview of the American fiber market, EDANA will discuss the European non-wovens market, a presentation on the topic of electrospinning will be made by Philips University Marburg, and papers on new ways to man-made fibers and their applications will complete the plenary lectures.
Award for outstanding scientific research
In order to encourage innovations in the field of man-made fibers, CIRFS will award the coveted PAUL SCHLACK CHEMIEFASERPREIS to a scientist for his/her research work at a European academic institution.
More than 80 lectures will deal with the following four subjects:
DEVELOPMENTS IN FIBERS AND YARNS
TECHNICAL TEXTILES AND TEXTILE COMPOSITES
NONWOVENS and
TEXTILES FOR WELLBEING AND HEALTH.
The section DEVELOPMENTS IN FIBERS AND YARNS will cover the following topics: ionic liquids as cellulose solvents, new polyester textile filaments, broader applications for polyamide high-performance yarns, nanofibers, technologies for the manufacturing of fine cellulose fibers, new industrial applications and end-uses for PLA fibers, microcellular Polyester, bicomponent yarns for 3D-knitted fabrics.
The section TECHNICAL TEXTILES AND TEXTILE COMPOSITES will start with an introduction to the world market of technical textiles and will be followed by lectures on the following topics: applications in architecture and construction, textile finishing for technical and protective textiles, international test and evaluation standards against thermal risks, warp-knitted structures for reinforced plastics, the use of nanoparticles in fibers and textiles, high-tenacity polyethylene fibers, new binding fibers for needlefelts, agrotextiles, protective membrane-based garments, rayon and nylon 6.6 high tenacity applications, artificial turf.
The section NONWOVENS will start with a market overview USA, followed by lectures on the topics of new fibers for spunbonds, short staple polyester for wet lay processes, environmentally friendly geotextiles, biologically degradable PLA non-wovens, meltspinning of biocompatible filament yarns, electrospinning, fiber dynamics simulation tools, control of fiber surfaces for non-wovens.
The section WELLBEING AND HEALTH WITH TEXTILES is currently of particular interest. Papers will define the concept of so called wellness fibers, look at medical applications versus the wellness trend, procedures for the evaluation of the skin tolerance of textiles, design strategies for the megatrend wellness, conductive textiles, textiles for the improvement of physical performance, functional textiles, optically active fibers with bioactive properties, benefits of low compression garments for healthy people, antibacterial textiles.
With this programme the DORNBIRN MAN-MADE FIBERS CONGRESS will encourage on one hand the dialogue between man-made fiber producers, machine and auxiliary manufacturers, non-woven producers, processing companies and on the other hand the cooperation in research and development between industry, universities and research institutes.
The presentation of innovative processes or product improvements will result in an exchange of know-how in a forum of experts.
Please put this three-day event on your agenda and learn about state-of-the-art innovations and trends in man-made fiber manufacturing and processing.
