In March 2008, China ´s retail sales jumped 21.5 percent from the previous year to 835.5 billion yuan, the fastest pace of growth on record. The strong growth came on the heels of sales expanding at their slowest pace in four months last month. Retail sales increased 21.2 percent in January and 19.1 percent in February.
