China´s consumer prices continued to climb in April as the country´s Consumer Price Index rose 3.0 percent from a year ago; however it did represent a slight decline from the 3.3 percent inflation experienced in March. April´s annualized inflation rate was slightly less than expected and was the Central Bank´s exact target of 3 percent for 2007. The apparel component of the April CPI was unchanged, which compared to a .10 percent decline in the average apparel price in March. China´s retail apparel prices began to expand in October 2006 after several years of significant price deflation.
