Harvest Advances, But Progress Slow (09/19/2007)

China´s harvest is advancing, but progress appears to be slower than normal. The most active cotton picking has occurred on western edge of the North China Plain in the provinces of Shanxi and Shaanxi, where 45.74 percent of the seed cotton has been picked in Shanxi and 30.54 percent in Shaanxi. In Hebei, 17.41 percent of the seed cotton has been picked, with 18.8 percent picked in Hunan and 17.4 percent in Hebei. So far, the picked cotton´s average grade is T328, with an average fiber length of 29.05 millimeters. The average lint outturn is 37.32 percent, with 9.55 percent moisture. Weather disruptions have been noted, with quality and yields impacted.
