China´s cotton yarn trade turned quite weak in October, with imports declining 16.2 percent from year-ago levels to 59,200 tons, which represented the smallest volume since February 2007. Exports also dropped to 43,200 tons, a year-on-year loss of 8.6 percent. Net cotton yarn imports plunged 31.7 percent to only 16,000 tons, the smallest volume since February 2005. A reduction in import demand coincided with weaker domestic cotton yarn prices and a softening in domestic demand. Total January through October cotton yarn imports experienced flat growth totaling 790,900 tons, while exports reached 492,948 tons.
