The Xinjiang Bureau of Statistics released its final estimates for 2007 crop acreage. Total 2007 agricultural cropland in Xinjiang Province was at 3.837 million hectares. The recent estimates revealed cotton acreage had increased 7.1 percent from 2006 to 1.378 million hectares, which represents 35.9 percent of all cropland. 2007 production was assessed at 2.7 million tons. The Bureau has not yet revised its estimates for past years.
