Updated: 4/21/2009 9:55:00 AM

In face of sluggish overseas market Chinese textile makers has to count on its domestic market, which is expected to maintain stable development and make further contribution to the growth of China Textile industry, along with a series of stimulation measures issued by the government. It is reported that above-scale textile enterprises in China have increased their proportion of domestic sales to current 77% from 67% in year of 2000.

China textile industry is among the first to suffer from the global financial crisis, according to Mr. Gao Yong, Vice President of China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC). Chemical fiber market witnessed a rebound after the Chinese New year, and if the positive situation will last till April, the nation´s chemical fiber industry is expected to get through the valley. Given that both domestic and overseas markets for Chinese home textile products show signs of growth since 2009, we remain bullish on the market prospect of chemical fiber equipments and air-jet looms, said Mr. Gao Yong. In addition, as the state increases input into more infrastructure projects, domestic demand for related textiles such as leather and glass fiber fabric will experience increased growth, and thus, textile-related equipment sales will also be on the rise.

Mr. Xu Kunyuan, Vice President of CNTAC said that the driving force for China textile industry is still domestic consumption. In the country´s vast rural areas, the current consumption level is still very low and it means a huge market potential for textile producers nationwide.
