Charlotte-based nonwovens manufacturer Polymer Group Inc. (PGI) has installed a Reifenhauser Reicofil 4 spunbond line in its San Luis Potosi, Mexico, facility. The new, state-of-the-art line, part of a $50 million, 15,000-metric-ton capacity expansion, will manufacture fine-denier, lightweight but strong spunbonded fabrics that will be used as barrier materials in diapers and medical garments. Markets to be served include the United States and Mexico, and potentially also Central America and the Caribbean region.

"This expansion, as well as our other investments, demonstrates our commitment to increasing our production capabilities in our core markets to meet specific customer demand," said Veronica "Ronee" M. Hagen, CEO, PGI. "We are focused on maintaining a leadership position in our markets through offering the best delivered value to customers in terms of quality, performance, innovation and supply chain management."
