Sichuan lately kicked off a 1000 t/a carbon fiber project in Leshan city. The project covers an area of 40 hectares with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan and is expected to go on stream by the end of 2010. After completion of the project, the sales revenue will be added by 5 billion yuan a year. Carbon fiber is extensively used in spaceflight, aviation, communication and textile sectors because of its excellent properties such as low density, great strength and high-temperature resistance.
