According to the latest statistics from CNTAC the country´s textile industrial output totaled 1018.4 billion yuan (149.1 billion US dollars) in the first four months of 2009, up 4.5 percent compared with the same period of 2009. China yielded 6.7 million tons of yarn, up 8.1 percent year-on-year, and 6.6 billion pieces of garments, up 3 percent; chemical fiber output amounted to 7.98 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 2.8 percent; nonwovens output soared 22.7 percent to 360000 tons during the same period.
