According to China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles, the country´s imports and exports of textile machinery during January-March 2009 decreased by 56 percent year-on-year to almost 1.1 billion US dollars, of which, imports down 61 percent to 866 million US dollars and exports down 42 percent to 231 million US dollars. Knitting machinery was the top import item with 143 million US dollars, down 44 percent, and still knitting machinery ranked first in term of exports value, totaling 93.24 million US dollars, down 20 percent.
