State Information Center Forecast GDP in Q3 Increases by about 8.5% (08/24/2009)

According to the report released by State Information Center in China Securities Journal on August 21, the recovering trend of China’s GDP is gradually strengthened, and it is expected that the GDP in the third quarter will increase by about 8.5% year-on-year. At the same time, China is still in mild deflation, and the monetary policy does not have conditions for transformation.

It is expected in the report that the CPI and the PPI in the third quarter will decline 1.3% and 7.9% respectively year-on-year, continuously staying at a low ebb; the urban fixed-asset investment will increase 32% year-on-year; the retail sales of social consumer goods will be up 14.6% year-on-year; the export prospect will still be grim, and imports and exports will decrease by 12.7% and 20% respectively year-on-year. The industrial growth rate will increase by about 10.8% year-on-year.
