Director of the National Bureau of Energy Zhang Guobao stated at the opening ceremony of national energy working conference on December 27 that China will make great efforts to develop renewable energy and nuclear energy in 2010 in a bid to raise the proportion of non-fossil energy among primary energy consumption to 0.5 percentage point compared with last year.

Zhang introduced that China will in 2010 positively boost the construction of nuclear power station, study and adjust the medium and long-term plan of developing nuclear power, speed up the development of coastal nuclear power and take initiatives to step up inland nuclear power; strengthen nuclear power security and quality administration and control the approval of nuclear power plant and construction to render nuclear power construction to adapt to existing technical equipment, professionals and security supervision; and beef up the talent training of nuclear power to promote the domestication of major and key equipment for nuclear power.
