China outdoor sportswear market maintains a striking annual growth of approximately 40% in recent years. When fashionable phrases like green, bio-friendly conjugated with a healthy living style, a burgeoning market came into birth. More and more people are pursuing a health, natural, fashionable living style outdoors which directly stimulated the skyrocketing growth of outdoor market. Experts say that China domestic outdoor market thrived to over four billion RMB in the single year of 2008. Inspired by the enormous market in China, many foreign brands came to invest in China.

Outdoor sports wear encompasses a relatively wide categories of products including mountaineering wear, skiing suits, leisure shoes, tents, backpacks, to name a few. There are no instinctively differences between outdoor sports wear and in-door wear only that outdoor sports wears must be equipped with some special functions, for instance, good moisture management and air permeability performance, also with some special functions such as water resistance and windproof performance as a plus.

Generally speaking, outdoor textiles and apparels have comparatively higher added-value and technically more sophisticated. Currently, there are very limited outdoor manufacturers in China with relatively higher price and moderate qualities. Many textile companies were apprehensive to invest in this industry due to the complicated technical requirement and unexpected manufacturing difficulties of outdoor sports wear. Nevertheless, market never keeps stagnating and this burgeoning market awaits investment to exploit.
