Warp-knitting machinery manufacturer Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH, Germany, recently celebrated the occasion of the 100,000th machine rolling off its production line. Before the HKS 4 EL tricot machine was delivered to the customer -- Taiwan-based Houndey Co. Ltd. -- it was decorated and sent to the company´s headquarters in Obertshausen, Germany, where a celebration was held to mark the major milestone in the company´s history. Members of the Mayer family, Obertshausen officials, and representatives of the advisory council joined Karl Mayer´s staff and Management Board at the event.
Managing Director Fritz P. Mayer addressed the guests and remarked that the celebration was about the company´s success in machinery design, but also the continuity and longevity of the company for more than 60 years. He stated that when the order for the 100,000th machine was placed last year, the celebration was planned even though the company had few orders on its books and the outlook was pessimistic. However, Mayer was happy to report that as the milestone machine rolled off the production line, the company´s order books were full and there is a quiet confidence about certainly the next few months and hopefully the remainder of the fiscal year. Mayer thanked the staff for their commitment in the past and asked for their continued support and hard work to meet the demands of the coming months.
Karl Mayer shipped its 25,000th machine in 1968 and its 50,000th machine in 1974.
