Benefiting the official operation of China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone, in January, ASEAN became China’s third largest trade partner instead of Japan, with total value of bilateral trade of USD21.48b, up 80%, of which Chinese export to ASEAN amounted to USD10.55b, up 52.8%; import from ASEAN USD10.93b, up 1.2 times. After a large amount of import from ASEAN, trade deficit of China to ASEAN was USD380m in this month while Chinese trade surplus to ASEAN USD1.87b from the same period of 2009.
