Updated: 4/20/2010 9:27:00 AM

A Tanboocel bamboo fiber Collateral Development launching ceremony was recently held in Beijing on March 27th. Mr. Sun Ruizhe, vice president of China National Textile and Apparel Council made the attendance and delivered a keynote speech.

Mr. Sun indicated that the crescendo of eco-friendly textiles is getting stronger and stronger as economy develops and people´s livelihood improves. In an age low-carbon life gradually dominates, textile industry as a pillared national industry is incumbent to pioneer a green and healthy public life. By the year 2020, China´s domestic fiber consumption would exceed 40 million tons. By 2040, global fiber consumption would possibly reach 100 million tons. Both China and the world will be confronted with a noticeable problem of fiber resource shortage. In the meantime, Mr. Sun also explained that it is irrational and irregular that the output of cotton and chemical fiber kept climbing all the way up. Alternative resources are urgently needed to satisfy the growing demand. It is therefore of great significance to improve the resource utilization and keep strengthening the R&D of renewable resources.
