Several decades have passed since the first man-made leather was made. Multitudes of materials including resins of PVC, acrylic resin, PU and differential fibers of regular chemical fibers and superfine fibers have been applied to the manufacturing of synthetic leather. After several decades of development, the performance of man-made leather is now approaching or even surpassing the performance of natural leather.
Superfine fiber synthetic leather is produced using bundle-shaped superfine fiber and polyurethane as the raw material. A nonwoven with three-dimensional network is firstly made using nylon superfine fiber which resembles the bundle-shaped collagen fiber contained in the natural leather in terms of fiber performance. Then open micropore-structured polyurethane was filled. After subsequent special manufacturing procedures, the superfine fiber synthetic leather is made.

Widespread application in automobile interior trimming
Regular trimming textiles of automobiles are readily accessible with good elasticity and permeability. The cost is also relatively lower. However, they do lack smooth appearance, luster and are easily stained. Physical performance of regular trimming textiles is also way worse than natural leather.
The performance of polyurethane superfine fiber leather, by contrast, is way better - higher tear and tensile strength, easy-to-clean appearance, resemblance with natural leather in terms of structure. The only disadvantage is much higher price and lower processibility. Compared with regular PU or PVC leather, PU superfine leather bears higher tensile and tear strength, better elasticity and bulk hand touch, low VOC content and etc. In a nutshell, PU superfine leather resembles natural leather in many ways. Many physical and chemical performances are even more superior to natural leather.
Leading the development orientation
Superfine fiber is now frequently used to develop top-class textiles since it can to a large extent enhance the added value of the products. Superfine fiber has extremely low linear density and very high specific surface area. Textiles made of superfine fiber possess an array of merits such as perfectly soft hand touch, remarkable wearability and comfort. The smaller the fiber diameter, the greater the proportion of scattered light which will surely make the fabric appears more dull and soft. Based on all the aforementioned characteristics, products using superfine fiber are primarily microsuede, silk-like fabrics, peach-skin-like fabrics and etc.
The technology of compound superfine fiber is developing rather rapidly, especially the polyester superfine fiber. It is therefore believed that superfine fiber industry will surely be booming in the next few years with substantial market.
