Figure from Urumqi Customs show, the foreign trade of Xinjiang grew significantly by 87.6% to US$ 2.34 billion. Mechanical and electrical products, textiles and garment and furniture remain the major export products. The export of garment & clothing accessories, foot wear, textile yarn, fabric & made-up goods as well as furniture and parts all registered positive growth and it totaled US$ 1.57 billion, accounting for 74.1% of Xinjiang´s total foreign trade. Imported products include mainly iron ores, cotton, crude oil, etc., in which, the import of cotton stood at 29,000 tons, up 32.5%. In January, the import and export with main trade partners all presented significant growth. Kazakhstan remains the No. 1 trade partner and the trade with Kazakhstan accounts for 34.2% of Xinjiang´s total foreign trade, up 79%; the trade with Kyrgyzstan, the United States and Tajikistan rose respectively 62%, 59.6% and 52%. In January, the trade with Malaysia, India, South Africa, Korea and Brazil increased respectively by 5.8 times, 8.3 times, 14.2 times, 5.1 times and 16.3 times.
